Arab League Schedules 56th Council of Arab Information Ministers Session in Libya

Cairo: The League of Arab States has announced that the 56th session of the Council of Arab Information Ministers will be held in Libya on 14th and 15th September.

According to Emirates News Agency, Ambassador Ahmed Rashid Khattabi, Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the Media and Communication Sector at the League of Arab States, stated that a series of preparatory meetings will commence on 12th July at the General Secretariat headquarters. These meetings aim to prepare for the upcoming 56th ministerial session.

Khattabi mentioned that the meetings will evaluate the implementation of decisions made during the 55th session of the Council of Arab Information Ministers, which took place in Cairo in November 2025. Various working groups will present their recommendations to the Permanent Committee for Arab Media and the Executive Office, seeking approval before the forthcoming ministerial meeting.

The agenda for the session includes an analysis of the Arab Media Action Plan Abroad, a meeting of the Standing Expert Group on the Role of Arab Media in Combating Terrorism, and discussions on measures to support Palestinian solidarity. The agenda also focuses on promoting the Palestinian narrative, preserving the historical and legal status of Jerusalem, fostering a culture of peace, and rejecting violence and discrimination, while emphasizing the civilizational achievements of the Arab world.

Additionally, the meetings will feature sessions of the Executive Programme Team for the Arab Media Map for Sustainable Development Goals and the 23rd session of the Permanent Committee for Electronic Media. Participants will deliberate on a draft Arab model law and an Arab legislative framework to regulate the work of influencers and digital content creators. They will also examine a proposal to establish the Arab-Chinese Exchange Centre for Audiovisual Innovation.
