At Least 34 Dead in India’s Northeast After Heavy Floods

Guwahati: At least 34 people have died and more than 56,000 others have been affected in India's northeastern region after heavy floods caused landslides over the last four days, authorities and media said on Monday, and the weather department predicted more heavy rain.

According to Emirates News Agency, the floods have destroyed 10,477 homes and disrupted thousands of residents, as evacuation and relief efforts continue across the worst-hit areas. The affected regions are grappling with the aftermath as rescue operations are underway to provide aid and shelter to those displaced. The adverse weather conditions have prompted authorities to remain on high alert, with more rainfall expected in the coming days.
