Bin Habtoor commends role of private sector’s investment in higher education


Caretake Prime Minsiter Dr. Abdulaziz Saleh bin Habtoor, praised the Private Sector’s vital role in investment and its positive contribution in the field of higher education.

This came during a meeting with the Prime Minister on Saturday with his Deputy for Services and Development Affairs, Dr. Hussein Maqbouli, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Yemeni Academy for Graduate Studies, Dr. Yahya Al-Mutawakel, and the President of the Academy, Dr. Ahmed Al-Shami.

During the meeting, which was attended by the Minister of State for National Dialogue and National Reconciliation Affairs in the caretaker government, Ahmed Al-Hamati, they were briefed on the Academy’s activity and effort within the framework of postgraduate studies as the first higher academy at the national level, and its influential role in higher qualification and its contribution to the path of human development and the service of social and economic development, in addition to its development programs.

Dr. Bin Habtoor praised the role of
the Academy in the field of graduate studies. He stressed on the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to enhance the level of its support for the Academy and programs to develop its scientific activity, including the opening of new courses in postgraduate master’s and doctoral studies and their accreditation by government agencies.

He pointed to the positive impact of this trend in advancing the academic process, reducing pressure on public universities and limiting travel abroad for researchers in postgraduate studies.

Al-Mutawakel and Al-Shami expressed appreciation for the government’s support for the higher education sector, its institutions and investors in this vital field.

They stressed the keenness of the private sector to be a strong tributary to higher education and scientific research in the Republic of Yemen.
