Beijing: China's central bank announced Thursday the addition of 12 banks to its roster of authorized institutions for digital yuan operations.
According to Emirates News Agency, this expansion is part of a strategic effort to ensure the steady development of the digital currency and to enhance the accessibility and efficiency of its services for the public.
The People's Bank of China aims to advance the digital currency's growth by increasing service inclusivity and addressing the demand for secure and convenient digital yuan services. Among the newly added operators are China CITIC Bank, China Everbright Bank, and Huaxia Bank. These banks will connect to the central bank's digital yuan system and begin offering services once they complete the necessary operational and technical preparations.
In its announcement, the central bank emphasized its commitment to expanding the number of operators to foster broader market participation and support innovation in digital currency operations.
