Beijing: China's grain production has achieved a record-breaking milestone in 2025, with total output reaching 714.88 million tonnes. This data, released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), marks a year-on-year increase of 1.2%.
According to Emirates News Agency, the impressive harvest resulted from both an expansion in planting area and an increase in per-unit yield. The country's grain planting areas have grown for the sixth consecutive year, surpassing 119 million hectares. Additionally, grain output per unit area saw a 1.1% increase compared to the previous year, as reported by NBS data.
NBS official Wei Fenghua attributed the growth in grain acreage to China's comprehensive strategies, which include enhanced protection and quality of arable land, optimised planting structures, and the reclamation of abandoned farmland. Wei highlighted that this significant grain harvest establishes a robust foundation for the advancement of agricultural and rural modernization, as well as the overall rural revitalisation.
Wei further noted that the achievement strengthens China's economic recovery and promotes high-quality development. It also contributes positively to stabilizing the international grain market and ensuring global food security.
