Dubai: Dubai CommerCity (DCC), the region's first free zone dedicated to digital commerce, has announced a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Aramex and QuikBot Technologies to trial QuikBot's Autonomous Final-Mile Delivery (AFMD) Platform-as-a-Service at DCC. The signing ceremony was attended by key figures, including Dr. Mohammed Al Zarooni, Executive Chairman of DIEZ and Chairman of the Board of Dubai CommerCity, and Raziff Aljunied, Consul General of Singapore.According to Emirates News Agency, the MoU was signed by Amna Lootah, Board Member of Dubai CommerCity; Tarek Abu Yaghi, General Manager of Aramex; and Alan Ng, Founder and CEO of QuikBot Technologies during the WORLDEF Dubai 2024 forum. The forum, held on December 4-5 at Dubai CommerCity, is a collaborative event with WORLDEF, an international platform focused on aiding companies in global digital commerce and cross-border trade.The initiative aligns with the Dubai Robotics and Automation Program, spearheaded by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Moham med bin Rashid Al Maktoum, which aims to position Dubai among the top 10 cities globally for robotics and automation technology adoption in the next decade. This program focuses on boosting efficiency and productivity in service, industrial, and logistics sectors, thereby enhancing Dubai's economic competitiveness.Amna Lootah commented on the partnership, highlighting Dubai CommerCity's commitment to technological innovation and efficiency in logistics services. The trial of QuikBot's autonomous delivery robots is seen as a crucial step toward reinforcing Dubai CommerCity's status as a leading digital commerce hub and a platform for future technologies.Tarek Abu Yaghi expressed Aramex's enthusiasm for the collaboration, emphasizing their commitment to sustainable, innovative solutions that enhance delivery services. Alan Ng of QuikBot Technologies expressed excitement about launching the first advanced Autonomous Last-Mile Delivery Platform in Dubai, noting the ideal conditions provided by Dubai CommerCit y's infrastructure.The MoU details collaboration among the parties to test autonomous delivery services across Dubai CommerCity facilities. The trial will involve robot parking and charging areas, integration with smart building IoT systems, and promotion among companies in the free zone for last-mile delivery solutions.Aramex's new outlet in Dubai CommerCity will serve as a pickup and drop-off location for packages handled by QuikBot's autonomous robots. QuikBot Technologies will also supply a specialized application for Aramex to manage deliveries and offer comprehensive technical support services.
