Dubai:Dubai Future Foundation (DFF), in collaboration with the UAE Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (UAE C4IR), has released a report titled 'Fourth Industrial Revolution in the UAE 100 Use Cases' during the Annual Meeting of the Global Future Councils.
According to Emirates News Agency, the report documents 100 applications of advanced technology across the UAE's economy, public sector, and academic institutions, showcasing the deployment of Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies in crucial sectors.
The use cases cover nine sectors smart cities, advanced manufacturing, energy, logistics and mobility, healthcare and life sciences, agritech and food security, fintech, space, and creative industries. The report emphasizes the common factors behind the success of these applications, such as supportive government policies, flexible regulatory frameworks, and effective partnerships between the public and private sectors, including academic and research institutions. Notably, over 60 of the cases resulted from cross-sector collaborations.
Khalfan Juma Belhoul, CEO of DFF, highlighted that the Fourth Industrial Revolution is characterized by the ability to turn technology into real economic and social value. He noted that the report's 100 use cases demonstrate the ongoing transition across the UAE, showcasing the potential when government, industry, researchers, and innovators collaborate to scale advanced technologies from experimentation to practical use.
Each use case was evaluated against six criteria relevance to the Fourth Industrial Revolution, significance to the UAE, maturity, measurable impact, replicability, and responsible deployment. The report delves into the importance of these applications, their operational mechanisms, achieved or anticipated impacts, and future directions.
The use cases draw on 16 pre-defined technologies, including artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, blockchain, and others. The report concluded that the most substantial results occur when multiple technologies converge on a defined operational challenge.
Designed as a resource for governments, companies, regulators, and researchers, the publication aims to provide practical models for adaptation and learning. It illustrates various combinations of policy, infrastructure, partnerships, skills, and institutional capacity necessary for transforming advanced technology into sustainable outcomes.
Established in April 2019 through a partnership between the UAE Government and the World Economic Forum, UAE C4IR is hosted by Dubai Future Foundation. It serves as a public-private platform for technology governance and policy development, connecting UAE experiences with the Forum's international network of centers. This report is a result of that collaborative effort.
