Ducab Group Unveils ‘Ducab Plants for Progress’ Initiative to Plant 1,000 Trees.


Dubai: Ducab Group has strengthened its commitment to environmental conservation through its ‘Ducab Plants for Progress’ initiative, launched in partnership with the Emirates Environmental Group (EEG). This initiative aligns with the “Plant the Emirates” National Programme, introduced by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, as part of the ‘Year of Sustainability’.

According to Emirates News Agency, the initiative aims to promote sustainable agricultural practices, expand green spaces across the UAE, and advance the nation’s agricultural sector. Through this collaboration, the initiative seeks to support agricultural development, safeguard the environment, and strengthen sustainable national food security. The initiative, launched as part of the “Ducab Ducare,” underscores Ducab Group’s leadership in environmental preservation and its commitment to supporting the UAE Energy Strategy 2050 and the UAE Net Zero 2050 Strategic Initiative, both aime
d at reducing carbon emissions by promoting biodiversity and preserving ecosystem stability.

Additionally, the initiative supports the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including Good Health and Well-being (SDG 3), Affordable and Clean Energy (SDG 7), Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG 11), and Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure (SDG 9). The launch of the initiative was attended by Alia Abdul Rahim Al Harmoudi, Assistant Under-Secretary for the Sustainable Communities sector at MOCCAE; Othaibah Saeed Al Qaydi, Director of the Municipal Affairs Department at MOCCAE; Mohammad Almutawa, Group CEO of Ducab; and Habiba Al Mar’ashi, Co-Founder and Chairperson of EEG.

Alia Al Harmoudi expressed her delight at the launch, highlighting the initiative’s role in advancing agriculture and embedding sustainable practices in citizens’ lifestyles. Mohammad Almutawa, Group CEO of Ducab, emphasized the initiative as a reflection of the forward-looking vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Mak
toum, aiming to integrate sustainable practices into daily life. Almutawa mentioned that the Year of Sustainability represents a transformative chapter for the UAE, with Ducab actively supporting the ‘Plant the Emirates’ National Programme. He emphasized that the planting of 1,000 trees symbolizes a commitment to shaping a greener, more resilient landscape for the UAE.

Almutawa also highlighted that each tree planted by Ducab team members represents a step toward preserving the nation’s natural environment and combating desertification. As part of the initiative, Ducab will plant 1,000 native Ghaf, Samar, and Sidra trees across its facilities. These trees are projected to absorb approximately 22 tonnes of carbon annually. The team members will plant trees bearing their names, underscoring Ducab’s leadership in advancing sustainability and fostering a greener future.

tep towards accelerating the achievement of sustainability goals in the UAE. She emphasized the collective responsibility of environmental preservation and the promotion of sustainability, requiring cooperation and active participation from all sectors of society and institutions.

Ducab Group and the Emirates Environmental Group (EEG) will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a framework for ongoing sustainability initiatives across Ducab’s operations, focusing on supporting the UAE’s efforts to reduce carbon emissions and promoting environmental sustainability. The “Ducab Plants for Progress” initiative highlights the Group’s pioneering role in advancing sustainability goals within the UAE and globally, aiming to create a positive impact and expedite the achievement of sustainable development goals.
