Electricity Minister and UNDP representative discussed nature of studies related to energy generation

The Minister of Electricity and Energy, Dr. Muhammad Ahmed Al-Bukhaiti, discussed on Saturday with the Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Yemen, Zina Ali Ahmed, the nature of studies related to renewable energy generation.

The meeting reviewed aspects related to the involvement of experts and consultants in the preparation of studies on renewable energy projects.

The meeting, which was attended by the Head of the Organizations and International Cooperation Department of the Council for Humanitarian Affairs, Faisal Modhesh, was briefed on samples from the report of Firnas Shuman Company presented by the head of the consulting office, Eng. Al-Eryani talked about the company's most important achievements and the obstacles it faced, as well as energy production indicators and studies related to investment opportunities in the field of renewable energy.

In the meeting, the Minister of Electricity affirmed keenness to implement renewable energy projects by the technical advisory office of the ministry in accordance with the laws and regulations of the Electricity Law.

He pointed to the efforts of the Ministry of Electricity to organize the work of the private sector in generating electric power, stressing the importance of involving experts and consultants with scientific competencies in preparing studies for renewable energy projects, to ensure the development of the electricity sector and achieve sustainability in the field of energy.

Dr. Al-Bukhaiti called on the United Nations and donor countries to assume their responsibility and work to support the electricity and energy sector and restore it to its normal status as a service sector that contributes to improving electricity services, especially in light of the exceptional circumstances that Yemen is going through under the aggression and blockade.

He reaffirmed the importance of integrating efforts, working in a team spirit, feeling responsible towards citizens and alleviating their suffering.

For her part, the resident representative of the United Nations Development Program affirmed the desire of the United Nations to support the electricity and renewable energy sector in Yemen and encourage investment in this field.

While the member of the consulting office, Engineer Jamil Al-Abyad, pointed out the importance of doubling efforts to proceed with the production of electric power with gas.
