Abu Dhabi: Emirates Nuclear Energy Company (ENEC) has announced the establishment of ENEC Consulting, a subsidiary dedicated to supporting the development of peaceful nuclear energy programs and infrastructure worldwide. This strategic move follows ENEC’s recent unveiling of a new brand identity and its ambition to become a global leader in clean energy solutions.
According to Emirates News Agency, ENEC Consulting aims to leverage over 15 years of experience from the successful implementation of the UAE Peaceful Nuclear Energy Programme, specifically the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant, which achieved full-fleet operations by September 2024. The new advisory firm will offer comprehensive support throughout the lifecycle of nuclear plants, including strategic advisory, project management, operational readiness, and capacity building.
The launch of ENEC Consulting underscores ENEC’s dedication to sharing its expertise in nuclear project delivery, contributing to the responsible growth of nuclear energy globally. Mohamed Al Hammadi, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of ENEC, emphasized the increasing demand for clean baseload electricity driven by heavy industry and energy-intensive sectors. He highlighted the UAE’s achievement in decarbonizing its grid, with the Barakah Plant contributing 75% of the clean electricity added per capita globally over the past five years.
Al Hammadi stated that ENEC Consulting is positioned to assist other nations and organizations in achieving energy security and sustainability, especially during a period of significant global momentum in the nuclear energy sector. The firm aims to collaborate with international partners to advance nuclear energy development.
Mohamed Al Braiki, General Manager of ENEC Consulting, indicated that as more countries commit to tripling nuclear energy capacity by 2050, ENEC Consulting is prepared to provide insights and expertise gained from the UAE’s successful Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant project. The plant is recognized as one of the world’s most efficient nuclear new builds, demonstrating timely delivery, cost efficiency, and compliance with standards.
ENEC Consulting will offer advisory services across various domains, including project management, regulatory frameworks, financing models, and workforce development, all designed to build sustainable nuclear energy ecosystems. The company will also assist clients in establishing oversight mechanisms for safe and efficient project delivery, drawing on the UAE’s high standards in safety, security, and operational excellence.
The formation of ENEC Consulting aims to strengthen ENEC’s relationships with established and emerging nuclear nations, supporting the tripling nuclear declaration initiated at COP28 in 2023. This global initiative, endorsed by 31 countries and 14 international banks, calls for tripling nuclear capacity by 2050 to achieve Net Zero. ENEC Consulting’s launch aligns with the UAE’s strategy to contribute to global decarbonization efforts and serve as a model for responsible nuclear energy development.
