European Stocks Close Higher

European stocks closed higher at the end of Wednsday's trading , as investors await the release of the preliminary reading of the consumer price index in Germany on Thursday, and the announcement of inflation data in the euro zone on Friday.The European Stoxx 600 index ended trading up 0.3 percent to reach 520.6 points, its highest level since last July.The sub-index of the chemicals sector led the gains with a rise of 1.4 percent to record its highest level in more than two months, with shares of Givaudan, Symrise AG and Covestro rising by more than three percent.In turn, shares of Symrise and Covestro helped the German DAX index rise 0.5 percent to reach its highest levels since last May.The insurance sub-index also boosted gains in the pan-European Stoxx 600, rising 1.2 percent, helped by a 3.9 percent jump in Belgiums Ageas after it beat first-half net operating income expectations and announced a share buyback program.Europes technology sector, meanwhile, pared earlier gains to close flat ahea d of Nvidias second-quarter results, due after the US market close.Source: Qatar News Agency
