FIA Unveils New Remote Operations Centre to Enhance Formula One Race Management

Biggin Hill:The Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) has announced a significant investment in race management with the opening of a new Remote Operations Centre (ROC) at Biggin Hill, UK. This development is part of a multi-million-pound initiative aimed at advancing the technology and infrastructure supporting the FIA Formula One World Championship.

According to Emirates News Agency, FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem outlined the importance of this investment ahead of the Mexico City Grand Prix. He emphasized that the ROC's inauguration marks a critical milestone in the ongoing evolution of the championship, enhancing the infrastructure and resources that ensure the highest standards of race management.

The ROC is designed to provide comprehensive support to FIA Race Control and Stewards during Grand Prix weekends for F1, F2, and F3. It processes live data from numerous audio and video feeds, telemetry, and team communications, aiding in the rapid and accurate decision-making process. The facility employs AI-assisted technologies to identify potential incidents and is crucial for post-event reviews that refine future race rules.

The facility's full operation since the 2026 Dutch Grand Prix has increased the FIA's operational capabilities, with up to 16 staff members working during race weekends. Moreover, it plays a pivotal role in training the next generation of race officials through the FIA High Performance Programme, ensuring a consistent pipeline of skilled professionals in the sport.

FIA President Ben Sulayem acknowledged the collaborative efforts with partners like FOM and highlighted the ROC as a robust example of successful teamwork. The investment in the ROC not only fortifies race management but also underscores the FIA's commitment to a safer and fairer future for motorsport globally.
