FIFA and Dubai Sports Council Unveil New Annual Football Awards Event

Dubai: In the presence of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and other significant figures, FIFA and the Dubai Sports Council have announced the launch of a new annual world football awards event to be held in Dubai. The announcement, made during the World Sports Summit, marks a significant partnership between the global football authority and the emirate known for its passion for the sport.

According to Emirates News Agency, this new event will be the only official annual FIFA awards ceremony starting in 2026. It will bring together inspirational football figures from around the globe to celebrate the best players, teams, and notable accomplishments from the previous year. The agreement was solidified through a Memorandum of Understanding signed by both parties.

H.H. Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed, President of the UAE National Olympic Committee and Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, highlighted the strong partnership between the council and FIFA. He emphasized that this new agreement underscores Dubai's prominent position in global football and its role in developing the game worldwide through pioneering initiatives and major events.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino expressed excitement about partnering with Dubai, a city known for its deep connection to football. He stated that the world football awards will not only recognize top performers on and off the pitch but also serve as an innovative celebration of the sport.
