Tarragona: Hundreds of Spanish firefighters on Wednesday brought a forest fire under control after burning more than 3,000 hectares over the past three days near Tarragona, a port city in northeastern Spain's Catalonia region. More than 450 firefighters backed by helicopters and planes were deployed to put the fire under control.
According to Emirates News Agency, the protected Els Ports natural park makes up 30% of the affected area. This significant portion of the park's landscape was impacted, raising concerns about the ecological implications and recovery efforts needed to restore the natural habitat.
The rapid response from firefighting teams and the use of aerial support were crucial in containing the blaze. Local authorities have been monitoring the situation closely to prevent any further spread and to ensure the safety of nearby communities.
