Abu dhabi: The first week of the 28th Universal Postal Congress - Dubai 2025, held under the theme 'Leading the Change, Creating the Future', concluded today. The Congress brought together delegations from 192 Universal Postal Union (UPU) member countries.
According to Emirates News Agency, the event identified priority issues and achieved international consensus on key agenda items to be adopted at the Congress. This lays the foundation for the approval of the Union's strategy for 2026-2029, named the 'Dubai Strategy.'
During its first week, the Congress featured several high-level sessions, including the UPU Global Leaders Summit, which set a vision for the future of the postal and logistics sector. Discussions focused on accelerating digital transformation through artificial intelligence technologies and innovative eCommerce solutions.
Additionally, the Congress emphasized the need to develop governance and regulatory frameworks to adapt to evolving trends and ensure seamless global network operations. It explored themes such as sustainability, enhancing supply chain efficiency, financial inclusion, and the empowerment of postal and financial services.
The event highlighted the UAE's significant role, with its delegation leading strategic discussions on the future of postal and logistics services. They stressed the importance of integrated networks for data exchange, streamlined eCommerce operations, and support for sustainable development goals.
As the first week concluded, delegates are now preparing for the next phase of the Congress. This phase will include final decisions, voting on the Dubai Strategy, and the election of council members, while continuing discussions on the strategy's implementation and follow-up mechanisms.
The second week will also see the announcement of several initiatives and agreements aimed at strengthening international cooperation within the sector.
