Abu Dhabi: The Federal National Council (FNC) has approved a draft federal law linking the Union General Budget and the budgets of independent federal entities for the fiscal year 2025 during its second ordinary session of the 18th legislative chapter. The session was chaired by FNC Speaker Saqr Gobash and attended by Abdulrahman bin Mohammad Al Owais, Minister of Health and Prevention and Minister of State for FNC Affairs, along with Mohamed Hadi Al Hussaini, Minister of State for Financial Affairs.
According to Emirates News Agency, Minister Al Hussaini stated that the Union General Budget, which has been approved by the Federal Cabinet, amounts to AED71.5 billion in both revenues and estimated expenditures, reflecting a balanced financial strategy. This budget marks the largest in the history of the UAE and is aligned with the leadership’s vision of enhancing the quality of life and achieving sustainable development. It also highlights the strength of the national economy and the sustainability of resou
rces, which are pivotal in supporting critical developmental, economic, and social initiatives.
The 2025 budget distribution covers key sectors such as social development, government affairs, and economic affairs, among other federal expenses. The social development sector receives the largest allocation, with AED27.859 billion, accounting for 39% of the total federal budget. Within this sector, AED9.990 billion is dedicated to public and higher education programs, AED5.505 billion to healthcare and community prevention services, and AED8.956 billion to social care.
Additionally, AED1.288 billion is allocated to culture and arts, AED660 million to housing, AED8.126 billion to defense affairs, AED8.179 billion to public affairs and safety, AED2.523 billion to economic affairs, and AED23.431 billion to public services.
During the session, Marwan Obaid Al Muhairi and Mira Sultan Al Suwaidi were elected as observers of the Council by acclamation.
