Abu Dhabi: The 2024 edition of the Global Manufacturing and Industrialisation Summit (GMIS2024) is set to bring together global safety leaders from governments, the private sector, and international organizations to explore the next frontier of industrial safety. The event, scheduled for December 5th during Abu Dhabi Business Week, will focus on innovative policies and strategies to enhance safety standards and build resilient industrial ecosystems worldwide.According to Emirates News Agency, GMIS2024, under the theme 'Resilient by Design: The Next Frontier in Industrial Safety,' aims to address safety challenges arising from interconnected, AI-driven systems and emerging technologies. The summit will present opportunities to standardize safety practices across borders, emphasizing sustainable growth, worker protection, and operational resilience. In collaboration with Abu Dhabi Civil Defence and the Global Initiative for Industrial Safety (GIFIS), and guided by the "Manifesto for Global Industrial Safety," the event will propose actionable strategies for safer industrial ecosystems.The summit will feature keynote addresses from prominent government officials, including Osama Amir Mohamed Fadhel of the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT), Brigadier General Salem Abdullah Bin Barak AlDhaheri of the Abu Dhabi Civil Defense Authority (ADCDA), and Dr. Mohamed Al Kuwaiti, Head of Cyber Security for the UAE Government. Additional speakers include Dr. Farah Al Zarooni from MoIAT and Luomei Shu from the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).Key representatives from Abu Dhabi's government entities will participate, such as Major Eng. Ali Hassan Almadfai of ADCDA, Mohammad Ali Al Kamali of the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO), and Massimo Falcioni of the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development.Osama Amir Mohamed Fadhel emphasized the importance of industrial safety for sustainable growth, stating that GMIS2024 serves as a vital platform for unifying efforts, sharing best practices, and implementing innovative safety frameworks. The summit will also feature global executives like Barbara Frei of Schneider Electric, Courtney Gregoire of Microsoft, and Hazeem Al Suwaidi of Borouge, among others.Barbara Frei noted that safety is a strategic investment, highlighting the role of AI, IoT, and public-private partnerships in protecting workers and ensuring operational continuity. She expressed her enthusiasm for contributing to GMIS2024, a crucial platform for promoting safety in business and industrial ecosystems.Key sessions at GMIS2024 include 'Make It In The Emirates: A Future Ready Ecosystem' and 'Emergency Response 2.0: Reshaping the Future of Crisis Management and Fire Safety.' The summit will also introduce 'The Manifesto for Global Safety: A Call to Action for Resilient and Safe Industries,' focusing on worker safety and technological integration. Participants include industry leaders from PwC, the Institute for Manufacturing, University of Cambridge (CIIP), and Axial Glo bal Advisors.Namir Hourani, Managing Director of GMIS, highlighted the importance of forward-looking safety frameworks in the face of technological advancements.
