Hamdan bin Mohammed Meets with Chairman of Alibaba Group to Discuss Digital Economy and Strategic Partnerships

Dubai: H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Defence, today met with Joseph C. Tsai, Co-founder and Chairman of Alibaba Group, a leading multinational conglomerate specialising in e-commerce, retail, Internet, and technology.

According to Emirates News Agency, the meeting was held on the sidelines of the World Governments Summit 2025. H.H. Sheikh Hamdan emphasized Dubai's strategic focus on fostering partnerships with global technology-driven enterprises that are instrumental in shaping the future of digital economic ecosystems. He highlighted Dubai's advanced digital infrastructure and progressive policies, which have positioned the city as a global trade and innovation hub, making it an attractive destination for international technology and e-commerce companies seeking to expand their reach.

H.H. Sheikh Hamdan also underscored the importance of strengthening collaborations with global players like Alibaba to achieve Dubai's vision of becoming a leader in the digital economy. He noted that such partnerships are crucial for the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, which aims to generate AED100 billion annually from digital transformation projects.

The discussion between the two leaders delved into the evolving landscape of digital commerce, advances in AI-driven retail industry technologies, and innovations in financial technologies. They also discussed the role of smart logistics in accelerating business growth. Both sides shared insights on leveraging advanced technologies to enhance trade, economic resilience, and contribute to sustainable growth.

The meeting was attended by key figures including Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications; Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade; and Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General, Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).

Additionally, Joseph C. Tsai participated in a fireside chat discussing the future of artificial intelligence and its evolving role in driving economic growth at the World Governments Summit 2025.
