Hamdan Bin Zayed Receives Copy of Abu Dhabi Geographical Guide

Abu dhabi: H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in Al Dhafra Region, has received a copy of "Emirate of Abu Dhabi: A Guide to Geographical Sites and Places". This guide is a comprehensive geographical and historical reference that documents the sites, landmarks, and places across the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The book is authored by Emirati researcher Ali Ahmed Al Kindi Al Marar.

According to Emirates News Agency, the presentation of the book took place during a meeting at Mohammed Al Falahi Al Yasi's majlis in Al Mirfa City. During the meeting, Al Kindi outlined the book's contents, which include the names of various regions, cities, towns, and villages. It also covers details about water resources, palm groves, forests, ghaf trees, sand dunes, sabkhas, plains, mountains, sand hills, and valleys, alongside their historical significance.

The guide is a four-volume work documenting 3,259 geographical locations across Abu Dhabi. It is the culmination of nearly 13 years of field research, utilizing maps, historical documents, geographical and historical publications, newspapers, reports, academic studies, and oral accounts from senior Emirati men and women.

Published by the National Library and Archives, this guide aims to preserve the geographical and historical heritage of Abu Dhabi and document the emirate's traditional way of life.
