House committee meets Norwegian envoy over developments in Palestinian territories

Head of the Lower House Palestine Committee, MP Mohammad Dhahrawi, said Jordan’s position will remain “firm” towards the Palestinian cause and its support to the steadfastness of Palestinian people until the establishment of their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Speaking at a meeting on Thursday, with the Norwegian ambassador to Jordan, Tone Allers, the lawmaker warned of the consequences of compromising Jerusalem’s legal status, stressing the importance of Hashemite custodianship over Islamic and Christian holy sites in the holy city.

Continuing: “Israel does not respect international conventions and treaties and relevant international legitimacy resolutions.”

Dhahrawi added that Jordan bore the consequences of the different waves of refugees to its territories, which “negatively affected its infrastructure,” calling for more support to the Kingdom in this field.

In this context, he lauded Norway’s support for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).

In turn, the envoy said Norway shares similar views on various issues with Jordan, foremost is support for Palestinian refugees and others residing on Jordanian soil, commending Amman’s support provided to them.
