Lausanne: The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has unveiled its 2025 Annual Report, which was ratified by the IOC membership during the 146th IOC Session held in Lausanne. Titled 'Passing the Torch', the report marks a significant transition for the Olympic Movement, detailing the transition from the previous IOC President to Kirsty Coventry, who is recognized as the 10th and the first female President of the IOC.
According to Emirates News Agency, the 2025 Annual Report aligns with the principles of the Fit for the Future consultation process, showcasing a more dynamic format and emphasizing key themes influencing the IOC and the Olympic Movement. Among these themes are the preparations for upcoming Olympic Games, with host cities confirmed until at least 2034, highlighting the sustained interest and global appeal of the event.
The report also provides insights into the IOC's various activities planned for 2025, which encompass digital engagement, and initiatives in art, culture, and education. It also covers areas such as sustainability, good governance, and safeguarding the integrity of sports.
In the initial year of the 2025-2028 Olympic cycle, the IOC has allocated approximately USD 600 million to bolster the Olympic Movement. This funding is directed towards direct IOC contributions, activities, projects, and programs aimed at supporting the Olympic Games and fostering global sports development and the Olympic Movement.
