Paris: The prime ministers of India and Japan have commenced significant tours to Europe, including a visit to France where they are set to participate in the Group of 7 (G7) summit.
According to Anadolu Agency, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has initiated his visit to France as part of a six-day European journey. In the first segment of his trip, Modi is scheduled to meet with French President Emmanuel Macron in Nice on Sunday. The leaders are expected to review a comprehensive range of bilateral issues, as per India's Ministry of External Affairs.
Continuing his tour, Modi will undertake a state visit to Slovakia from June 14 to 16, marking the first visit by an Indian prime minister to Slovakia since its independence in 1993. This visit underscores Modi's commitment to strengthening ties with European nations. Additionally, Modi will attend the G7 summit next week, aiming to further consolidate India's partnerships with France, Slovakia, and the G7.
Meanwhile, Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi is on a diplomatic mission to the UK and Italy, and she will also join the G7 summit in France. During her visits to the United Kingdom and Italy, Takaichi plans to engage in discussions with Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on pressing global issues, including the situations in East Asia, the Middle East, and Ukraine.
Takaichi has expressed her intent to enhance collaboration in various sectors, such as security, artificial intelligence, quantum technology, space, semiconductors, and offshore wind power. Prior to her participation in the G7 summit, Takaichi emphasized Japan's dedication to advocating for stronger cooperation on energy security, free trade, and supply chain resilience among G7 members. She aims to address key topics like export restrictions, oil stockpile strengthening, and critical mineral cooperation.
The G7 summit, which is scheduled to take place in France from June 15 to 17, will serve as a platform for both leaders to discuss these critical global matters and fortify their countries' roles on the international stage.
