Dubai: H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Finance, met with Alexander Wynaendts, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Deutsche Bank AG, at his office. The discussion centered around the UAE’s banking and financial sector’s ongoing evolution, driven by technological innovation and digital transformation.
According to Emirates News Agency, H.H. Sheikh Maktoum emphasized the unique opportunities available for international banks to leverage the UAE’s strengths in governance, regulation, infrastructure, and business-enabling services. The meeting highlighted Dubai’s emergence as a pivotal hub for investment, capital flows, and enterprise growth within the global financial industry.
The discussions underscored Dubai’s dedication to nurturing the growth of international banking and financial institutions through a competitive and supportive ecosystem. Establishing robust partnerships with global financial entities is deemed essential for aligning with the Dubai Economic Agenda D33. This agenda aims to double Dubai’s GDP by 2033 and elevate its status among the world’s top three urban economies and top four global financial hubs.
Deutsche Bank, a prominent global financial institution, offers services in corporate banking, investment banking, private banking, and asset management. With operations in 56 countries and a workforce of approximately 90,000, the bank reported significant financial milestones at the end of the third quarter of 2025. These include £1.054 trillion in assets under management within its Asset Management division and £675 billion within its Private Banking division. Its net revenues grew by 4% in 2024, reaching £30.1 billion. In the Middle East and Africa, Deutsche Bank operates from the Dubai International Financial Centre, providing a comprehensive suite of financial services.
The meeting was attended by several key figures, including Mohamed bin Hadi Al Hussaini, Minister of State for Financial Affairs; Helal Almarri, Director-General of the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism; Essa Kazim, Governor of DIFC; and Hesham Abdulla Al Qassim, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Emirates NBD.
