Maktoum bin Mohammed Engages with Rothschild and Co on Expansion Plans.

Dubai: H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of the UAE, and President of the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), recently engaged in discussions with Alexandre de Rothschild, Executive Chairman of Rothschild and Co. The meeting focused on the company's regional operations and its strategic expansion plans, anchored in Dubai.According to Emirates News Agency, H.H. Sheikh Maktoum extended his congratulations to Alexandre de Rothschild on the inauguration of Rothschild and Co's new wealth management office in Dubai. This development is seen as a reflection of the UAE's esteemed reputation within the global financial industry. The UAE's success is attributed to its adaptable business landscape, which promotes growth and success for partners across various sectors, particularly in financial services and consultancy.The discussions also emphasized the UAE's forward-looking vision, as encapsulated in a series o f strategies and action plans aimed at achieving comprehensive and sustainable development. A key component of this vision is a robust partnership with the private sector. The UAE's ongoing commitment to supporting its partners, both domestically and internationally, underscores its dedication to collaborative development and joint success.Further discussions highlighted Dubai's ambitious economic goals as outlined in the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, which seeks to double the emirate's economy over the next decade. This includes positioning Dubai among the top four global financial centres and attracting over AED650 billion in foreign direct investment. The Dubai International Financial Centre's role in fostering a business-friendly environment for financial services companies was also underscored, with DIFC housing over 400 companies, including 44 hedge funds from the 'billion-dollar club.'Dubai is recognized as the region's capital of private capital, boasting the largest concentration of wealth holders. The capital accessible to clients of DIFC is estimated to be around $3.5 trillion.The meeting was attended by several prominent figures, including Mohammed bin Hadi Al Hussaini, Minister of State for Financial Affairs; Helal Saeed Al Marri, Director-General of the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism; Essa Kazim, Governor of the DIFC; and Arif Amiri, CEO of the DIFC Authority.Rothschild and Co, a leading global financial services and consultancy firm, brings nearly 200 years of expertise, operating in over 40 countries with around 4,600 specialists. The firm has managed 175 mergers and acquisitions deals in the Middle East since 2010, valued at approximately $100 billion.
