Abu dhabi: His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, chaired a Cabinet meeting at Qasr Al Watan, marking his 20th year as Prime Minister. The meeting focused on reviewing the UAE's national achievements under his leadership.
According to Emirates News Agency, the meeting was attended by prominent UAE leaders, including His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Deputy Prime Minister, and other key government officials. Sheikh Mohammed outlined the government's journey since he assumed the role of Prime Minister on January 5, 2006. Over the past two decades, the Federal government has passed 16,000 resolutions, restructured government work, and spent over AED1.1 trillion to enhance services, update legislation, and modernize infrastructure.
Sheikh Mohammed highlighted the UAE's leadership in more than 280 development indices, emphasizing citizen well-being, education, health, housing, and global economic standing. He noted the UAE's pioneering efforts in artificial intelligence, space industries, and as a global economic hub. The Prime Minister reiterated the commitment to continue this trajectory under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The Cabinet's review included significant milestones such as the launch of the UAE Government's first Comprehensive Strategy in 2007 and the Government Performance System in 2008. These initiatives laid the groundwork for strategic planning cycles and the UAE Vision 2021, aiming for global leadership by the nation's Golden Jubilee. The UAE Centennial 2071 plan, launched in 2017, envisions sustainable development and global leadership by focusing on education, economy, and national identity.
In recent years, the UAE has launched transformative projects, including the "We Are the UAE 2031" plan and various initiatives in artificial intelligence and digital governance. The UAE government has also focused on enhancing healthcare, developing a circular economy, and strengthening international cooperation through agreements with countries such as Tajikistan and the Slovak Republic.
The meeting underscored the UAE's achievements in international competitiveness, with the nation ranking first in 279 indicators and among the top five in 525 global indicators. The Cabinet also discussed cultural heritage preservation, tourism strategy outcomes, and updates to the UAE Circular Economy Policy 2031.
The UAE's economic growth has been remarkable, with real GDP and non-oil trade experiencing significant increases. Education, health, and social development have been prioritized, with substantial budget allocations to these sectors.
The Cabinet's agenda included approving the restructuring of the UAE Circular Economy Council and the formation of a Higher Committee to oversee the National Strategy for Anti-Money Laundering. These decisions align with the UAE's commitment to sustainable development and financial integrity.
