Abu dhabi: Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Tourism, announced that Masfout Village has been named the 'World's Best Tourism Village 2025,' a recognition that underscores the UAE's leadership in sustainable tourism.
According to Emirates News Agency, Bin Touq described the award as a 'historic crowning moment for Emirati tourism,' highlighting the UAE's prominent position on the global tourism stage, especially in rural and green tourism. This accolade serves as international validation of the UAE's efforts in promoting sustainable tourism practices.
Bin Touq emphasized the significance of this milestone as a reflection of the country's ongoing success in enhancing its tourism sector. The recognition supports the UAE's broader objectives of fostering balanced socio-economic development through initiatives like the 'Emirates Villages project.' This project aims to create a sustainable development model for UAE villages, preserving their natural and cultural heritage while promoting their unique tourist attractions. It also seeks to strengthen sustainable development and innovative tourism projects across all seven emirates.
The minister further noted that the UAE has embraced a forward-thinking vision to enhance the sustainability and competitiveness of its tourism sector, positioning it as a vital driver of economic growth. The nation has implemented various sustainable tourism projects that align economic progress with environmental conservation, focusing on green, eco, agricultural, and rural tourism models. These efforts are integral to advancing the goals of the National Tourism Strategy 2031.
Bin Touq added that in line with these objectives, the Ministry of Economy and Tourism launched the fifth edition of the 'World's Coolest Winter' campaign from Masfout last December. This campaign showcased Masfout's natural and rural tourism assets, emphasizing its rich environmental and cultural diversity. The initiative aims to enhance the quality of life, strengthen family stability, and support local economies through diverse and innovative tourism activities.
