Dubai: His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, met with Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, during the World Governments Summit (WGS) 2026. The summit, held in Dubai from 3rd to 5th February, is themed 'Shaping Future Governments'.
According to Emirates News Agency, the meeting was attended by prominent figures including H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and other high-ranking officials. Discussions focused on regional and international developments, the state of the Arab world, and initiatives by the Arab League to foster joint Arab action.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid commended the Arab League's efforts in promoting cooperation among member states, which aims to serve the region's shared interests and support aspirations for future prosperity. He also welcomed Ahmed Aboul Gheit to the summit, emphasizing its role as a platform for global collaboration and advancement in governance.
Ahmed Aboul Gheit expressed gratitude towards the UAE's leadership for organizing the summit, which unites governments, experts, and thinkers to address global challenges. He lauded the UAE's development model and its strategic investments that have bolstered its position in global competitiveness.
During a panel discussion titled 'The Arab Region: A Decade in Focus', Ahmed Aboul Gheit underlined the Arab League's efforts in sustaining Arab unity and addressing regional crises. He advocated for strengthening the League and enhancing cooperative actions among Arab nations.
