Palestinian President, Irish Foreign Minister Discuss Developments in Situation in Palestine

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas discussed on Wednesday with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Defense of Ireland Micheal Martin, the developments in the situation in the Palestinian territories, and the continuing aggression of the Israeli occupation authorities against the Palestinian people, their land, and their sanctities.

During the meeting, President Abbas said that the continuation of unilateral actions by the Israeli occupation authorities as well as settlers’ terrorism, contributes to creating tension in the atmosphere and dragging the region into escalation and violence, noting that these crimes require effective international intervention to stop the deterioration and implement the resolutions of international legitimacy.

For his part, Irish Minister stressed his country’s firm position in support of achieving a political settlement based on international legitimacy and the two-state solution, pointing out that his country will continue to provide support to the Palestinian people, especially in the field of scholarships for Palestinian students.
