President of Uganda Engages in Strategic Dialogue with UAE’s Abdullah bin Zayed


Kampala: Yoweri Museveni, President of the Republic of Uganda, received H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, alongside key Ugandan officials Robinah Nabbanja, Prime Minister of Uganda, and Jeje Odongo, Minister of Foreign Affairs, marking the start of Sheikh Abdullah’s visit to Uganda.



According to Emirates News Agency, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah conveyed greetings from UAE leaders, including President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, extending their wishes for Uganda’s development and prosperity. President Museveni reciprocated with greetings to the UAE leaders, expressing his hopes for continued progress for the UAE.



The Ugandan President welcomed Sheikh Abdullah and his delegation, emphasizing the significance of their visit. The discussions focused on strengthening bilateral relations, with a particular emphasis on economic, commercial, investment, and energy cooperation.



H.H. Sheikh Abdullah expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to visit Uganda and meet with President Museveni. He highlighted the robust relations between the UAE and Uganda, pointing to the promising opportunities for growth in key sectors that align with both nations’ development and economic goals. He also reiterated the UAE’s commitment to fostering sustainable development partnerships with African countries to ensure mutual prosperity.



The meeting concluded with the signing of six Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) between the two countries. These agreements spanned various sectors, including investment cooperation, diplomatic training, energy collaboration, visa requirements exemption, railway development, and digital transformation.



The signing of the MoUs involved various officials, including Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, Matia Kasaija, Ruth Nankabirwa, Major General Kahinda Otafiire, and others, highlighting the cooperative spirit and shared objectives of both nations.



The delegation accompanying H.H. Sheikh Abdullah included Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, Saeed Mubarak Al Hajeri, and Abdullah Hassan Obaid Al Shamsi, further underscoring the UAE’s commitment to strengthening ties with Uganda.
