Abu dhabi: Qatar's Ministry of Interior announced that a Qatari citizen was martyred and an Arab resident injured when the vessel they were aboard was hit by shrapnel from ongoing military operations in the region.
According to Emirates News Agency, the incident was reported after the General Directorate of Coasts and Borders Security noted a marine vessel had not returned on schedule, which led to a comprehensive search and rescue operation on Saturday evening.
Search teams successfully located the vessel early Sunday morning. It was discovered that the Qatari citizen had suffered fatal shrapnel injuries. Meanwhile, the resident was found and transported to the hospital, where he remains in stable condition. The ministry expressed its condolences to the bereaved family and wished the injured resident a swift recovery. Investigations are ongoing, with legal procedures being followed as per established protocols.
