Qatari Newspapers Editorials

Doha: In their editorials on Sunday, Qatari newspaper focused on several topics on both local and Arab fronts.

They condemned the attack carried out by the Israeli entity, which targeted the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), resulting in injuries among soldiers and significant damage to the headquarters of the UN mission.

On the local front, the newspapers focused on the launch of the Primary Health Care Corporation’s third Strategic Plan, under the slogan “the First Choice for Our Communitys Health,” adding that this plan represents an important phase for the Corporation, aligning with the third Qatar National Health Strategy (2024-2030) and the third Qatar National Development Strategy (2024-2030).

Al-Sharq said in its editorial that the attack carried out by the Israeli entity, which targeted the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) and resulted in injuries among its soldiers and significant damage to the headquarters of the UN peacekeeping mission in Naqoura, is merely part
of the ongoing Israeli violations of international laws and norms. This crime is a natural consequence of the international community’s failure and reluctance to curb the Israeli aggression, which has violated all taboos and crossed all boundaries, the newspaper pointed out.

It added that the State of Qatar, in a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, expressed its condemnation of the attack that targeted the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), which resulted in injuries among personnel of the force of Irish and Indonesian nationalities. The statement considered that attack a flagrant violation of the provisions of international humanitarian law and Security Council Resolution No. 1701. The statement stressed the need to conduct an immediate and independent international investigation to uncover the circumstances of this attack, and called on the international community to take decisive measures to compel the Israeli occupation to immediately stop its aggressive attacks and repeated viol
ations of international law.

The newspaper concluded by reaffirmed that the international community bears significant responsibility for the escalating tensions in the region, as Israel is placing the entire Middle East on the brink of a comprehensive regional war, while undermining all international efforts aimed at de-escalation and reaching an agreement to resolve the conflict in the Middle East.

Similarly, Al-Raya said that the repeated Israeli attacks on the sites of UNIFIL, which have resulted in injuries among some of its personnel, represent a serious precedent, adding that these actions attempt to change the status quo along Lebanon’s borders and constitute yet another blatant violation of international humanitarian law.

The editorial emphasized that these attacks reflect Israel’s disregard for international legitimacy and its failure to comply with international laws and treaties, as well as international humanitarian law, potentially amounting to a war crime.

Al-Raya noted that the State of Qat
ar has strongly condemned the attack that resulted in injuries among personnel from both Ireland and Indonesia, deeming it a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and UN Security Council Resolution 1701.

Al-Raya concluded by noting that by targeting UNIFIL and its headquarters, Israel is employing a strategy of intimidation against the forces stationed along its border, which remain in place despite requests from Israel to redeploy some of them. Over the course of three days, Israel deliberately targeted UNIFIL forces multiple times, resulting in injuries to several personnel and damage to their sites, provoking strong international reactions. Meanwhile, Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati has called on the United Nations to work for an immediate ceasefire in his country.
