RAK Ruler Witnesses Signing of MoU with Finland’s Lahti Region to Foster Economic and Environmental Collaboration

Ras Al Khaimah: H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, has emphasized the importance of international partnerships rooted in mutual respect and shared interests to bolster the global standing of the UAE and Ras Al Khaimah.

According to Emirates News Agency, this statement was made during a reception with an economic delegation from Lahti Regional Development Company (LADEC Ltd.) of Finland. The event was attended by Tuula Yrj¶l¤, Ambassador of Finland to the UAE. The Ruler pointed out that such collaborations mirror the Emirate's vision and long-term growth strategy, focusing on economic cooperation and the exchange of global knowledge and skills. He highlighted the development of innovative solutions to balance economic growth with environmental sustainability across key sectors including industry, energy, and technology.

H.H. Sheikh Saud discussed with the delegation the bonds of friendship with Finland and explored ways to enhance economic and investment relations across various sectors. He reiterated Ras Al Khaimah's strategy to expand international partnerships, emphasizing that true progress and prosperity can be achieved through collaboration and economic cooperation. This approach aims to support constructive global relations, harness opportunities, facilitate knowledge exchange, and drive progress towards sustainable development.

The meeting reviewed the investment and economic opportunities available in Ras Al Khaimah for Finnish companies, showcasing the Emirate's welcoming investment climate conducive to establishing and expanding international businesses.

Subsequently, Sheikh Saud witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Government of Ras Al Khaimah and the Lahti Region. The MoU aims to promote knowledge and innovation exchange in areas such as the circular economy, sustainable materials, eco-friendly production technologies, startups, technological development between universities, bio-based product research, waste management, recycling technologies, green buildings, and sustainable construction.

The MoU was signed by Mohammed Omran Al Shamsi, Special Advisor to H.H. Sheikh Saud, representing the Ras Al Khaimah Government, and Jarno Saarinen, Director of Entrepreneurship and Business Development Services for the Lahti Region. The agreement seeks to mutually support investment and business opportunities, while reinforcing both parties' commitment to global sustainability goals, including promoting e-mobility and smart city solutions.

The Finnish delegation expressed gratitude for Sheikh Saud's hospitality and noted that the MoU marks a significant progression towards a long-term partnership. They highlighted the growing friendship and economic collaboration between the UAE and Finland, paving the way for development in both nations.
