Moscow:The Russian government plans to extend its diesel export ban until the end of January 2027, with specific exceptions for global markets, as stated by Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak.
According to Wam, Novak confirmed that a government decree is being prepared to extend the ban on diesel shipments for three more months, up to the end of January next year. He noted that similar to previous arrangements, specific exceptions will be made for supplies to international markets.
Previously, Russia had extended a temporary ban on the export of diesel, marine fuel, and gas oils by direct producers until the end of October. The general ban on fuel exports was set to remain in place through January 31, 2027, although the specific restriction for fuel producers was initially due to expire on September 30.
Novak mentioned to the TASS Russian News Agency that Russia has already started to lift its diesel export ban earlier than planned. He reported that three tankers carrying Russian diesel have been sent to the US, with a fourth expected to leave on October 29.
Under agreements for international markets, Russian companies are allowed to export 500,000 tonnes of diesel in October to the United States and other countries.
