According to Emirates News Agency, the event was attended by notable figures including Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs; Dr. Sultan bin Saif Al Neyadi, Minister of State for Youth Affairs; Dr. Anwar Gargash, Diplomatic Adviser to the UAE President; Samira Rajab, former Bahraini Minister of State for Media Affairs; Dr. Saad bin Tefla Al Ajmi, former Kuwaiti Minister of Information; and Abdulla bin Mohammed bin Butti Al Hamed, Chairman of the National Media Authority, alongside government leaders, officials, and media representatives from across the GCC.
Drawing over 1,000 Gulf media professionals, thinkers, and content creators, Gulf Creators aims to empower these individuals by enhancing their skills and enabling them to produce content that represents the region's aspirations amidst emerging challenges. Saeed Al Eter, Chairman of the UAE Government Media Office, emphasized the importance of shaping a globally competitive narrative for the Gulf, stating it is essential for sustaining the region's influence in the future.
Al Eter noted the resilience and cohesion of the Gulf model, which has maintained its position as a credible and influential force globally. He underscored the central role of Gulf countries in the global economy, energy markets, and international trade, but questioned their influence in shaping global narratives.
He stated, "Our economic weight is clear. Our narrative influence must match it," highlighting the need for the region to lead global narratives rather than respond to them. He emphasized the importance of perception alongside policy and performance, stating that success is not only about achievements but also about how stories are understood globally.
Al Eter also stressed the challenges posed by the evolving information landscape due to artificial intelligence, pointing to findings from the Cambridge Online Trust and Safety Index, which show how easily online manipulation can occur. He concluded by calling for aligned Gulf media efforts to build a unified and credible narrative that reflects the region's values and priorities.
