SEC Forms Committee to Curb Warehouse Safety Violations in Sharjah

Sharjah: The Sharjah Executive Council (SEC) held a meeting chaired by H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Deputy Chairman of the Council, alongside H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Deputy Chairman of the Council, at the Ruler's Office.

According to Emirates News Agency, the meeting addressed various government topics aimed at enhancing the emirate's government work system, overseeing departmental performance, and reviewing the advancement of development projects across Sharjah. One of the significant outcomes of the meeting was the decision to form a committee tasked with monitoring and eliminating violations in commercial and industrial warehouses in Sharjah. This committee will conduct thorough inspections to ensure adherence to safety and security standards, implement preventive measures to minimize fire risks, and enforce strict penalties on entities that do not comply, particularly regarding the storage of hazardous and flammable materials.

The Sharjah Police will chair this committee, which will also include members from the Sharjah Civil Defence Authority, the Department of Municipal Affairs, the Department of Economic Development, and the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority.

Additionally, SEC approved a decision to grant extra social assistance to eligible beneficiaries in Sharjah, aimed at improving social and living stability. The Sharjah Social Services Department (SSSD) has been authorized to provide this assistance to those whose total monthly income is less than AED17,500, with specific criteria for eligibility including UAE nationality, permanent residency in the emirate, and not being retired from any pension authority in the UAE.

SEC also established a committee to address emergency social cases in Sharjah, overseen by the SSSD. This committee, led by Maryam Majid Al Shamsi, will focus on evaluating emergency social situations, providing comprehensive support, and improving the quality of life for affected individuals and families.

Furthermore, SEC approved decisions related to media activity fees and violations, and introduced a guiding manual for drafting memoranda of understanding, agreements, and contracts. This manual is designed to enhance governance and legal practices within government entities in Sharjah, providing a flexible framework for contractual decision-making.
