Sharjah: The Sharjah Cultural Chess Club has announced an engaging schedule for July, which includes the UAE-Omani Friendship Chess Championship set to take place from 13th to 18th July 2025. This event is part of the club's summer programme, "Our Vacation Changes," featuring various events and workshops aimed at fostering community engagement and skill development.
According to Emirates News Agency, several Omani players will participate in the championship, competing alongside local talents. The initiative also includes a series of workshops designed to enrich the experience for all participants. In addition, the club is currently hosting the UAE Open Individual Chess Championship for Women and competitions for boys and girls in the Under 8 and Under 10 categories. These events, organised in collaboration with the UAE Chess Federation, have attracted 141 male and female participants, competing until 12th July.
Khalifa Ahmed Al Mazrouei, a member of the Sharjah Cultural Chess Club's Board of Directors and Chairman of the Cultural Committee, highlighted the club's dedication to promoting chess. He emphasized that the club's facilities have become a hub for chess enthusiasts, thanks to the array of events they organise. Furthermore, the club is preparing to send 33 players to the UAE Individual Chess Championship, serving as a precursor to the upcoming Arab Championship in Morocco from 20th to 28th July.
