Sharjah Government Employees Participate in Sign Language Training

Sharjah: Front-line government employees and those working in customer service in Sharjah have been given the opportunity to enhance their communication skills through a sign language training programme organized by the Sharjah Human Resources Department (SHRD).

According to Emirates News Agency, the two-level programme, conducted at the Regional Centre for Educational Planning (UNESCO), was designed to teach employees the basics and rules of sign language. This initiative is part of a broader effort to disseminate sign language skills across government agencies, enabling effective communication with people with hearing disabilities. The training is intended to ensure an integrated service environment that caters to the needs of all community groups.

The programme provided an explanatory introduction to sign language, covering its basic vocabulary. It also included sessions on understanding hearing disabilities and methods to interact with individuals with hearing impairments.
