Sharjah Launches Media Crisis Management Programme

Sharjah:The Sharjah Government Media Bureau, in collaboration with the Sharjah Department of Human Resources, has introduced a new professional programme titled 'Media Crisis Management and Strategic Analysis' at the University of Sharjah. This initiative aims to enhance the skills of government communication professionals in analyzing developments, assessing the media landscape, and making informed decisions during crises.

According to Emirates News Agency, the programme commenced on Tuesday and focuses on strategic and analytical thinking, as well as strategic environmental assessment. Participants are engaging in analytical methodologies, tools for assessing the environment surrounding government entities, trend analysis, and learning lessons from previous crises.

The programme includes lectures, analytical workshops, case studies, and group discussions centered on decision-making. Abdullah Ibrahim Al Zaabi, a member of the Sharjah Executive Council and Chairman of the Sharjah Department of Human Resources, highlighted the importance of investing in human resources and equipping them with specialized knowledge and skills tailored to their roles.

He stressed the necessity of moving beyond general training to specialized professional pathways that address actual job requirements and adapt to changes in the government workplace. Al Zaabi also noted that investing in government talent enhances institutions' capabilities to develop, tackle challenges, and make well-informed decisions, with specialized training enabling employees to translate knowledge into effective institutional performance.

The programme, which runs until December 17, 2026, combines theoretical learning with practical exercises, case studies, and crisis simulations. It is designed for professionals in government communications, media, public relations, corporate reputation management, crisis response, media monitoring, and trend analysis. The course will culminate in a comprehensive media crisis simulation to evaluate participants' newly acquired skills.
