Sharjah: His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, received a delegation from Birzeit University (BZU), led by Dr Hanan Ashrawi, Chairperson of the University's Board of Trustees, at Dr Sultan Al Qasimi Centre. H.H. Sheikh Sultan welcomed the delegation to Sharjah, acknowledging their efforts in managing the university and enhancing its academic and administrative systems.
According to Emirates News Agency, the Sharjah Ruler highlighted that these efforts contribute significantly to the university's educational mission and its role in serving Palestinian society. He stressed the importance of elevating the level of higher education and enhancing Birzeit University's standing among Palestinian universities.
The Ruler of Sharjah expressed his support for academic institutions in need of assistance. He emphasized the need for collaborative efforts to support Palestinian students, enabling them to pursue their education in a conducive environment that protects their educational rights and academic futures.
H.H. Sheikh Sultan received a briefing on the academic programmes offered by BZU, one of Palestine's oldest higher education institutions. The university, offering over 170 academic programmes across undergraduate, graduate, doctoral, and professional diploma levels in various disciplines, attracts more than 13,000 students. It is noted for its role in scientific research, community service, and its esteemed academic presence both locally and internationally, enjoying advanced rankings among Palestinian universities.
