Sharjah Ruler Establishes Sharjah Cycling Club to Boost Local and International Competitiveness

Sharjah: His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has issued an Emiri Decree for the establishment and regulation of the Sharjah Cycling Club. The newly formed club will operate with its own legal identity and be empowered to take necessary actions to achieve its objectives, under the supervision of the Sharjah Sports Council.

According to Emirates News Agency, the headquarters of the Sharjah Cycling Club will be located in Sharjah City, with the possibility of opening branches in other areas of the emirate, pending decisions by the Sports Council upon the club president's request. The club aims to enhance Sharjah's reputation and competitiveness in cycling on both local and international stages. It plans to support the sports, cultural, and community sectors by promoting the development of cycling, establishing a modern legal framework, and ensuring safety and security standards on all tracks and routes.

The responsibilities of the club include establishing broad policies, nurturing new cycling leaders, overseeing cycling infrastructure, representing Sharjah in cycling matters, and organizing events. The club will also focus on fostering a cycling culture through awareness campaigns and identifying talents through training programs and competitions. Additionally, it aims to form partnerships with various federations and clubs and propose cycling-related legislation to the Sports Council.

The decree states that the club will be governed by a board of directors, including a president, vice president, and several members appointed by the governor. The board, serving four-year terms, will manage the club's affairs, formulate policies, and oversee operations. Conditions for council membership include citizenship, legal capacity, and educational qualifications.

Membership can be terminated under specific circumstances, such as death, failure to meet requirements, or excessive absences. The board will manage the club's finances, appoint a CEO, and collaborate with experts to achieve its goals. The executive director will be responsible for the club's operations, subject to the board's approval.

The decree also addresses legal matters related to board meetings, financial resources, and organizational structure, ensuring comprehensive governance of the club's activities.
