Abu dhabi: H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Mother of the Nation, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, today received Caroline Parmelin, wife of Guy Parmelin, President of the Swiss Confederation.
According to Emirates News Agency, the meeting focused on the strong friendship ties between the United Arab Emirates and Switzerland, exploring ways to further strengthen these relationships. Discussions centered on opportunities for cooperation, particularly in the areas of motherhood, childhood, and family, contributing to social development and enriching the shared experience between the two nations.
H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak also met with Catherine Russell, Executive Director of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF). The discussions highlighted means of enhancing cooperation between UAE institutions concerned with childhood and family affairs and UNICEF, focusing on protecting children's rights, empowering girls, and strengthening health and education programs.
Both meetings reviewed ways to support joint humanitarian and development initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life for children worldwide, particularly in vulnerable communities. They also reinforced international efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
H.H. Sheikha Fatima emphasized the UAE's belief that nurturing children and empowering women are fundamental pillars for building stable and prosperous societies. She noted that effective international partnerships are key in maximizing the impact of development initiatives, achieving tangible and sustainable results for target groups.
Sheikha Fatima reiterated the UAE's commitment to a humanitarian approach based on solidarity and shared responsibility, supporting programs that ensure children's rights to education, healthcare, and protection.
To honor the two guests, Sheikha Fatima hosted a dinner banquet.
