Sharjah: Dr Abdul Aziz Al Musallam, Chairman of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage (SIH), welcomed Dr Souleymane Konat©, Ambassador of the Republic of Burkina Faso to the United Arab Emirates, during an official visit to the Institute’s headquarters. The visit aimed to explore avenues for cultural and intellectual cooperation and establish new partnerships in intangible heritage and cultural exchange.
According to Emirates News Agency, Dr Al Musallam led the delegation on a tour of the Institute, showcasing key initiatives focused on preserving cultural heritage. The initiatives include educational and research programs, training, documentation, and folklore projects designed to pass cultural knowledge to future generations. The delegation also learned about the Institute’s international initiatives under UNESCO.
During discussions, Dr Al Musallam emphasized the strong and growing cultural ties between Sharjah and African nations, crediting this to the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi. He expressed the Institute’s readiness to collaborate with cultural institutions in Burkina Faso, particularly in documenting folk narratives and hosting cultural heritage events.
Ambassador Konat© expressed his satisfaction with the visit and praised Sharjah’s role in heritage preservation and intercultural dialogue. He confirmed Burkina Faso’s interest in establishing long-term cooperation with the SIH, focusing on academic research, training, and expert exchanges.
The meeting included several department directors from the SIH and officials from the Burkina Faso Embassy in the UAE.
