South Africa’s Minister Commends UAE’s Role in UN Water Conference Preparatory Meeting


Dakar: South Africa’s Minister of Water and Sanitation, Pemmy Majodina, highlighted the significance of the partnership between the UAE and the Republic of Senegal during the high-level preparatory meeting for the UN Water Conference 2026, which began yesterday. This collaboration, she noted, underscores a growing international commitment to prioritizing water issues on the global agenda.



According to Emirates News Agency, Majodina praised the UAE’s active participation in the meeting’s activities, emphasizing that it will enhance the momentum of investments in the water sector, develop water infrastructure, and support sustainable solutions that contribute to achieving water security and economic and social development.



Majodina called for increased partnerships between the public and private sectors and urged the acceleration of transforming international commitments into practical projects with tangible impact. She emphasized that the launch of the roadmap for the UN Water Conference 2026, a joint effort by the UAE and Senegal, represents a strategic step in strengthening international cooperation to tackle water scarcity challenges. This initiative is seen as a pivotal milestone in enhancing global commitments to support sustainable development pathways.
