stc Bahrain Lands First Bahraini Submarine Cable System

Manama: stc Bahrain has announced that the 2Africa cable system - Pearls, the world's longest submarine cable, has successfully landed in Bahrain, marking a significant milestone in global connectivity.

According to Emirates News Agency, with a US$205 million investment in the 2Africa Pearls submarine cable system, this major advancement in international connectivity towards Bahrain will reinforce the Kingdom as a powerful ICT hub. The project is expected to accelerate digital transformation across connected countries, attract substantial international investment opportunities, create jobs, and boost innovation across various sectors.

Spanning 45,000 km with an impressive 180 terabits per second design capacity, the 2Africa submarine cable will facilitate the faster adoption of new technologies and digital solutions, as reported by the Bahrain News Agency.

With the landing of the 2Africa Pearls submarine cable system, the cable's substantial capacity and low latency are set to serve as a catalyst for innovation and growth in emerging technologies such as 5G, AI, and IoT.
