Puttalam: H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council, has laid the foundation stone for the 'Al Reeh Al Mursalah' Village in the Puttalam region of Sri Lanka. The project is part of the cooperative efforts between the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority and the Sharjah Charity International, aimed at supporting charitable initiatives in the region.
According to Emirates News Agency, H.H. Sheikh Sultan emphasized that these charitable projects align with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, who advocates for extending aid to those in need globally. The initiative also saw the inauguration of a mobile medical clinic, supported by the 'Al Reeh Al Mursalah' programme of the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority.
The village project aims to provide education, community awareness, and vocational training to villagers. It includes 50 homes, a mosque, a health center, and facilities like a children's park, a sewing centre, and an artesian well. The mobile clinic will offer medical services to local communities. H.H. Sheikh Sultan expressed gratitude to all contributors, noting that these efforts reflect the UAE's commitment to promoting global humanitarian solidarity.
Mohamed Hassan Khalaf, Director-General of the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority, highlighted the programme's impact, which includes various humanitarian projects worldwide. The cooperation between the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority and Sharjah Charity International serves as a model of joint humanitarian work, reinforcing values of solidarity and expanding the scope of humanitarian initiatives.
The programme has raised significant funds over the years, supporting a wide array of charitable projects, including medical treatments, educational facilities, and sustainable development initiatives. The efforts are aimed at improving living standards and ensuring self-sufficiency for families in need.
Accompanying H.H. Sheikh Sultan were several notable officials, including Sheikh Saqr bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Khaled Nasser Al Ameri, UAE Ambassador to Sri Lanka, and other senior representatives from the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority and Sharjah Charity International.
