The Foreign Minister receives an invitation from his Iranian counterpart to visit Tehran

The Iranian Foreign Minister, Hussein Amir Abdollahian, expressed his thanks to the Iraqi government and people for the great organization of the million visit of the Arbaeen of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him).

Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Al-Sahhaf stated that "Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein received a call from his Iranian counterpart, Hussein Abdollahian, during which the Iranian Minister thanked the Iraqi government and people on behalf of the Iranian government and people for the great organization of the million-man visit to the holy Karbala and thanked the Iraqi people for the generous hospitality and good reception of visitors during the fortieth day of Imam Al-Hussein (PBUH).

For his part, the Deputy Prime Minister confirmed, according to the statement, that "the Iraqi people are proud of the visitors of Karbala, and the federal government, the Kurdistan Regional Government and all local governments in the provinces were at the service of the visitors.

In another aspect of the conversation, the two sides touched on the bilateral relations and expressed their assessment of the continuous development of these relations. They also touched on the security agreement between the federal government and the Islamic Republic, and the commitment of the two parties to it was affirmed, and the steps that were implemented in this field in the Kurdistan region were discussed.

Al-Sahaf indicated: The Iranian Minister invited the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs to visit Tehran to discuss a group of important bilateral issues related to the interests of the two neighboring countries.
