Rome: TRENDS Training Institute, a subsidiary of the TRENDS Group, and Italy's AISES Foundation have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at advancing research in Artificial Intelligence. The signing took place at Palazzo Giustiniani, the headquarters of the Italian Senate.
According to Emirates News Agency, the MoU builds on discussions from an international academic symposium on AI Governance hosted by the Italian Senate. Both parties are committed to transforming dialogue into sustainable institutional partnerships to foster knowledge production, support innovation, and develop forward-looking solutions.
The signing ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Abdulla Ali Ateeq Obaid Al Subousi, UAE Ambassador to Italy; Dr. Mohamed Abdulla Al Ali, Chairman of TRENDS Group; Valerio De Luca, Chairman of the AISES Foundation; and Awadh Al-Breiki, General Manager of TRENDS Global, along with various officials, experts, and researchers.
The agreement focuses on establishing joint programmes in scientific research, specialised training, international collaboration, higher education, and technology transfer. It aims to strengthen integration between the cyber and space sectors, which are crucial for national security and technological sovereignty amidst evolving global dynamics.
The MoU also includes provisions for the exchange of expertise, joint studies, research projects, and the organization of conferences, seminars, and training programmes. It seeks to address global challenges in AI, cybersecurity, space, and emerging technologies.
Dr. Al Ali highlighted that the MoU is a milestone in TRENDS' efforts to expand its global network of partnerships with leading research institutions. He emphasized that addressing global challenges related to AI and advanced technologies requires cross-border research collaboration.
De Luca described the agreement as a balanced partnership between East and West, noting its institutional and symbolic significance. He stated that it serves as a bridge for scientific and intellectual cooperation between Europe, the Mediterranean, and the Middle East.
Al-Breiki mentioned that the MoU adds to TRENDS' portfolio of international partnerships. He explained that it will lead to practical initiatives, including joint research projects, specialised workshops, and researcher exchange programs, contributing to scientific expertise in cybersecurity, space, AI, and advanced technologies.
The partnership reflects TRENDS' vision of building a global network for research collaboration, transforming scientific outputs into initiatives that support sustainable development and reinforce academic research as a cornerstone for future progress.
