Two Medals for UAE Athletics Team at Arab Championship in Tunisia

Tunisia: The UAE national athletics team achieved success by securing two medals at the beginning of its participation in the 21st Arab U20 Athletics Championship, which is being held in Tunisia and will continue until April 30th.

According to Emirates News Agency, the team earned a gold and a bronze medal in the 100m race, while also setting a new national record in the youth category. Sprinter Abdulqadoos Ali clinched the gold medal in the 100m, clocking a time of 10.59 seconds. This performance broke the previous national record of 10.65 seconds, which was set by Mohammed Ali Mubarak in 2005. His teammate Abdullah Mashhood secured a bronze medal, finishing third in the same race with a time of 10.86 seconds.

Ali Ghazwan, the manager of the national team, noted that winning two medals on the opening day at the Rades Olympic Stadium signifies progress in the team's competitive performance and their ability to break records in a major championship featuring athletes from 14 countries. He emphasized the potential of the promising talents within the team, crediting the efforts of the federation's board, led by Major General Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al Mur, in developing athletes across various age groups and disciplines to elevate the UAE's presence in international competitions.
