Abu dhabi: The United Arab Emirates and the Republic of India held the seventh session of the UAE-India Joint Consular Committee in New Delhi, aiming to strengthen consular cooperation and enhance services for citizens of both countries. The meeting was attended by delegations led by Omar Obaid Alhesan Alshamsi from the UAE and Sripriya Ranganathan from India.
According to Emirates News Agency, Omar Obaid Alhesan Alshamsi conveyed greetings from H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, emphasizing the strong and comprehensive strategic partnership between the UAE and India. The partnership has seen significant growth across various sectors, such as political, economic, technological, educational, and cultural fields.
Alhesan Alshamsi highlighted the impact of high-level visits and the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) in expanding cooperation opportunities and contributing to the development and prosperity of both nations. He noted the importance of people-to-people ties, with the Indian community playing a vital role in the UAE's development, and an increasing number of UAE nationals visiting India for tourism, education, and medical treatment.
During the session, progress since the last meeting in Abu Dhabi was reviewed, and discussions focused on enhancing consular services and cooperation. The topics included the exchange of expertise, adoption of modern technologies, and support for digital transformation, particularly in academic qualification verification.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to close coordination and joint action to implement the Committee's outcomes, aiming to strengthen bilateral consular cooperation and improve the quality of services provided to their citizens.
