UAE and Ireland to Strengthen Economic and Tourism Ties

Dublin: Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Tourism and Chairman of Investopia, engaged in bilateral meetings with Darragh O'Brien, Minister for Climate, Energy and the Environment and Minister for Transport of Ireland, and Paul Keeley, Director of Regional Development at F¡ilte Ireland, to discuss enhancing economic and tourism cooperation. The discussions aimed at exploring partnership opportunities across several areas of mutual interest.

According to Emirates News Agency, the meetings were held during the Investopia Global Dialogues in Dublin. The event gathered senior officials, business leaders, and investors from the UAE and Ireland and was attended by Mohammed Hmoud Hamad Rahma Alshamsi, UAE Ambassador to Ireland, and Mohammad Alhawi, Under-Secretary at the UAE Ministry of Investment.

Al Marri highlighted that the UAE's open economic policy focuses on strengthening international partnerships. He emphasized that these meetings contributed to deepening economic and tourism coordination, expanding collaboration between government entities and business communities in both countries, supporting joint investments, and enhancing air connectivity and tourism exchange.

In discussions with Darragh O'Brien, Al Marri explored opportunities for bilateral cooperation in sustainable energy, infrastructure, and transport. They also discussed exchanging expertise in the circular economy and policies that support accelerating the transition towards a green economy, aligning with both countries' sustainability objectives.

In a separate meeting with Paul Keeley, the focus was on enhancing tourism cooperation. The discussions involved exchanging expertise in destination development and regional tourism growth, particularly in planning tourism routes, building tourism brands for sustainable local destinations, and promoting them mutually. The aim was to increase visitor flows in support of both countries' tourism targets.
